“At the time there was very little information available to support me in learning about my condition, so I decided to create my own resources” - She says.
Born and bred Londoner Alis Rowe, is the founder of ‘The Curly Hair Project’, an extraordinary social enterprise that supports people on the autism spectrum. Since launching in 2013, Alis has gained an impressive following of over 120,000 people on Facebook.
With two degrees, including a Master's in Chemistry under her belt, Alis still finds the time to dedicate to other exciting interests.
“My hobbies are Olympic weightlifting, looking after my pets, playing the piano and making rap songs. I also love cycling, which is what made me so interested in making money with Stuart!”
After being diagnosed with autism in 2013, Alis went on to found her business, The Curly Hair Project.
“At the time there was very little information available to support me in learning about my condition, so I decided to create my own resources” she says.
In the decade since her diagnosis, the accomplished entrepreneur has gone on to produce an invaluable range of resources including books, animated films, podcasts and courses. Alis is also endorsed by leading autism psychologist, Professor Tony Attwood and her work has helped thousands around the world. Alis is also the author of her notable autobiography ‘The Asperger’s and Me: Girl with the Curly Hair’ which was the initial catalyst for establishing her successful business.
“People said I was really good at explaining what it feels like to have autism!”
We are proud to have Alis as a courier partner and we know the future is bright for her. She’s committed to honing her craft by developing her current resources whilst keeping up with the ever-changing world. We asked her if she has any advice for those who want to start a business, and she answered “Just be prepared to work very hard, especially for the first few years!”
